Empowering Youth Through Workplace Experience
The African Enterprise Network, as the Lead Employer and Training Provider, is proud to announce the successful implementation of the Services SETA funded LP06 Internship Programme for 104 interns across the Eastern Cape.
This 18-month programme is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical workplace experience for graduates from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges.
About the Programme
The LP06 internship is a structured workplace exposure initiative funded by the Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA). The programme targets unemployed TVET graduates who have completed their N6 theoretical studies and require 18 months of relevant workplace experience to obtain their National Diplomas.
The 107 interns have been strategically placed with various host employers across the Eastern Cape Province, ensuring that they gain hands-on experience in their respective fields of study, including:
- Management Assistant
- Financial Management
- Business Management
- Human Resource Management
- Marketing Management
- Public Management and others
The Role of African Enterprise Network
As the Lead Employer and Training Provider, African Enterprise Network is responsible for the end-to-end management of the programme. This includes:
- Recruitment and Placement: Matching interns to suitable host sites aligned to their qualifications.
- Employer Compliance: Managing employment contracts, stipends, and all HR-related administration.
- Monitoring and Support: Providing ongoing mentorship, workplace monitoring, and ensuring meaningful learning takes place at host sites.
- Training and Development: Facilitating workplace readiness and compliance with Services SETA requirements.
Our network of host employers across the Eastern Cape — spanning both public and private sectors — plays a critical role in providing a conducive environment for learning and professional growth.
Building a Skilled Workforce for the Eastern Cape
This initiative goes beyond placement. It is about youth employability, economic inclusion, and addressing the skills gap in South Africa. By providing TVET graduates with real workplace exposure, we are not only helping them complete their qualifications but also equipping them with the practical skills, work ethic, and confidence needed to thrive in the labour market.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Services SETA for funding this life-changing opportunity, to our host employers for opening their doors, and to the interns for their commitment to learning.
African Enterprise Network remains committed to driving impactful skills development programmes that create sustainable pathways from learning to earning.
